Knight Memorial Library

Today the Knight Memorial Library serves the Elmwood, Reservoir, West End and South Side neighborhoods of Providence.

The library holds books for adults, teens, and children in English and Spanish as well as a few children’s books in French, Haitian Creole, and Khymer. The book collection in English is especially strong in early 20th-century fiction. The library houses The Frazier Memorial Collection, Rhode Island’s first public library collection focusing on the African American experience, and a significant Rhode Island History Collection. Knight Memorial offers hot spots and a sizeable DVD collection. Digital audio and ebooks are also available.

Regular programs for kids include Cradle to Crayons, Storytimes, Ready for K, Lego Guild, Homework Help, Teen Movie Night, Family Movie Night, Guitar lessons, and Drop-in Crafts. For adults, computer training, GED classes in Spanish and ESL classes are regularly offered.
